Not a Happy Spring Day....

Several months now Mom has had her ups and downs with her behavior. We even got her on some new meds to sleep better and not to be so angry.  There are days that she has been so sweet, and other days you can't wait to come home from visiting her.

It seems harder to get her mind off of whatever she is thinking, and try and get her out of that sad, or horrible mood she could be in. We could bounce her back from these moods  through music, food, television, playing games, showing photos, or even going for a walk. ..... but now its like she is lost in her own thoughts and can't get out.  Many days we will hear her talking to herself or loudly pointing her finger at us telling us how she feels or how she dislikes us.

Yes, half the time she does not even know who we are and  she will even say that she doesn't care if she knows us or not. Each time I see her I worry where will she be in her mind, and will she be able to get out of it. It just seems harder and harder for her to understand things. Today, we took her outside and hoping to enjoy the nice weather with her. I even put some music of Frank Sinatra on from my iPhone for her to enjoy by singing or even dancing to the music. The music did not even make her smile, it just made her more upset. Well... we just pray that tomorrow will be a sunny day for Mom and she will enjoy the day with happier moments.

See how she folds the rim of her socks... ?

The music of Frank Sinatra made her smile even if it was just a few minutes.

Mom is  lost in her world that is so mixed up...too much thinking......I want my Mom back......

Trying to get Mom to laugh.. Almost did...

Mom stealing From Moro's Restaurant.

Mom loves silverware. We have a problem with her stealing silverware at American House. They don't care and we always bring what she takes back to the kitchen without her knowing. Something with silverware is very important to her and we just can't figure out what?

We took her to the dentist to get her teeth cleaned, and yes she has two small cavities. Right now we are not thinking about how she will deal with this situation when the day comes for the filling,  but right now in this photo she is so happy. After getting her teeth cleaned we took her to her favorite place to eat, Moro's, where Marc and Bubba always treat her with so much love and respect since they were little kids.

After we ate Mom started collected the silverware and we quickly told her to put all the silverware in the middle of the table. She did this with a big smile... and kept shaking her head that it was hard for her to do this. We then got our coats on and went to the car. Here she is ... she somehow stole the fork... She is so happy because she got a fork to take home. Yes.. we will take it back to Moro's.

Valentines Day with Mom...

American House had a Valentines Day Dance and party for all the Oldies and Goodies. Mom was very grumpy about going but once we told her Elvis was coming, she got dressed in her Valentine vest and went downstairs. She stayed grumpy until Elvis came into the door and then Lucy Bell was smiling and doing some shaking. When we saw that she was happy and enjoying herself we quietly left the party.  You can tell from the photos when she was grumpy and when she was smiling and doing some shaking.... and dancing.

Yes... these are the photos before the party. She did not want to go down until we told her Elvis has entered the building.

Mom just came down to the party.. She is just checking out the situation.
Here she is standing with her son.

Here she was dancing and shaking......

Elvis has come to shake and rattle for Mom and all her buddies.
Mom loves to dance, and she does not care who she is dancing with.

 Mom loves the cookies....

Everyone is singing and having a great time.. finally Mom is too.

Special Holiday Nails!

Friday, was nail polish day for my Mom. Mom loved her nails being done today because each finger nail was polished green and red. She kept showing everyone how cool she looked. She even said to everyone how cool she looked. She is wearing her Christmas bell and her Christmas wreathe that I made for her and the rest of the Oldies and Goodies from American House. So many people keep telling me how nice I have my Mom looking, especially during the holidays. They all call her American Houses's Little Christmas Elf.  I will do anything to see my mom happy and healthy. I am so blessed to have an amazing husband and son who are always by my side helping Mom.
Mom our Christmas Elf... who we love so much..
There's Mom's fancy nails.. she is already for Christmas...

Mom is our Christmas Elf....

Friday, we went to visit Mom at American House. When we got there she was sitting in a chair smiling at everyone who entered the front door. She always gets so excited when she sees someone she knows. She acts like she has not seen us for years.. and it has only been a day or so. Mom loves to   wear bright clothes, and loves to have her photos to be taken. Each time I show her pictures of her, she will always say that she looks like a Little Doll!

Her she is with her Elf Buddy Barb..

Mom is telling me in Armenian how this coffee tastes very good.
Mom loves her Santa hat and especially her bells I made for her.
She also has Christmas socks on... My little Christmas Elf.. I sure love her..
She sure makes a cute Elf... and she knows it too. She told me that she looks so cute....
Mom always loves her photos to be taken... I think she thinks she is a movie star at American House.
Look at that smile.. she may not know me or others but she sure looks happy for being 89 years old.

Mom and Her Buddies enjoying a sucker...... Yes... a toostie roll sucker..

Dot just kept sucking on her sucker and enjoying each taste.
Barb was telling me the last time she had a taste of a sucker when she was a little bitty girl.
Melba kept telling me I made her day......
Faye , went up to Mom and Phylis telling her how much she loved Lucy.

Last Friday , we went to see Mom as usually. We brought some of her friends suckers to eat.  We made sure that they did not have any sugar problems or that it would make them sick. You would not believe what a hit those suckers were. Many of the oldies and goodies had tears in their eyes of wonderful memories of sucking on a sucker when they were little kids. I had to remind some of  them what to do with the suckers and once they tasted how yummy they were, they would close their eyes and enjoyed the taste and the memories it gave them each.  It was a wonderful feeling to walk away knowing I put a smile on many faces today, and yet Mom had no idea what she was tasting.... but she was Happy.....

Decorating Mom's Door For Fall...

Mom was smiling all over the place tonight.
Mom loved decorated her door for fall, but especially putting the pretty fall leaves all over her door.
Last Wednesday we took some goodies for Mom to eat and several boxes of fall decoration  to decorate her apartment and front door for Fall. She was so excited to see all the wonderful fall things we brought for her. Mom loved decorated her door especially putting up all the fall leaves. She was like a little girl getting ready for a birthday party. Mom could not wait until someone would knock on her door and see how cute it looked. The simple thing like decorating a door made her smile, laugh, and so happy. We were so glad to see her smiling all over the place that night.
