Gilbert Residence - Resident and Family Picnic

The Gilbert Residence - Resident & Family Picnic

Today, May 30th, 2015 the Gilbert Residence had their family Hawaiian Picnic. The weather had been gloomy, and rainy but you would never tell by everyone's smiling faces. Everyone had so much fun, and they all looked like happy Hawaiian Rock Stars. Many had dressed for the occasion, and you could feel the LOVE as you walked around.

The food was DELICIOUS, the MUSIC was AWESOME to hear and to watch those ukuleles being played through out the picnic. The entertainment for the picnic who played those ukuleles are called, Treetown Ukes from Ann Arbor. Trust me they were good, even I was singing with them.Yes, and everyone else was singing, and clapping their hands. It was the best picnic I have every gone too. If you did miss this wonderful fun day, make sure you put this special day on your calendar for next year.

Memorial Day at the Gilbert Residence

Memorial Day at the Gilbert Residence

Even Mom and her Buds at Grace Hall were celebrating Memorial Day by wearing either the colors of red, white or blue. When they saw me with my camera certain cute Rock Stars wanted their photos taken. Even one cute Bud said she did not have her makeup on, and I told her she looked beautiful just the way she was. The flag meant a lot to most of the Buds, they kept telling me to look at it. Another amazing day at Grace Hall with such adorable Buds...

Quiet Day at Grace Hall

First, Mom had her haircut and she looked so cute. Thank you Miss Elicia for making the appointment, and she looked so adorable with her new look. When I saw my mom and the first thing she said to me was Sandra what do you want? I knew I was in big trouble when my mother remembers my name and she is talking, usually she does not talk or know my name. When she remembers my name I know she is somewhat grumpy.

Tom and I took her outside on the deck hoping she would stop being grumpy and enjoy the nice weather outside. Once the door opened to go on the deck everyone wanted to come out. It was so funny to see one at time as they came out the door. They reminded me of little ducklings going to the pond. Once everyone was outside Mom had to fix everyone's tops or slacks. I guess she wanted everyone to look their best. Once she sat down again she could not understand what she was suppose to do outside? I tried to explain to her why we were outside, but she just kept talking to me in Armenian. This was not a good sign again for me.
Mom then saw her friend Helen, and took her hand and said goodbye to me. I guess she wanted me to leave, then the two of them started their walking. We were about to leave and someone came up to me and asked me if I know who she is? My former students know I am old. ... 67 is almost close to 70. Anyway.. one of my former student who I had in my classroom at Cheney in Willow Run is working there now. Her name is Armesha Shaw. She still has that amazing smile that makes you want to smile back at her. We just kept hugging each other, and I was so happy to know she was working there. I know she will be such an asset to all the oldies and goodies there. She had a loving heart when I had her as a fourth grader and her heart is bigger now with more love to share with everyone.
When we were ready to go home, I looked for my mom wondering if she and Helen were still walking? I saw the two of them sitting with a bunch of their buds just relaxing and enjoying one another. They do not have to talk, just smiling at each other makes them all feel happy.

Mother's Day Fun at Grace Hall

Today at Gilbert Residence, in Grace Hall there was so much fun happening, lots of laughter, lots of delicious food being served, many hugs were being given, people were smiling all over the place, lots of happy families, and many giggles because all the Mom's were being celebrated on their special day there. Yes, even the cute Grace Hall Men were having so much fun.

Elicia one of the staff members always has the Grace Hall Buds making or doing something fun. Today was another one of the those days she had bought some markers and white coffee cups for all the Adorable Grace Hall Buds to decorate . Once they were through decorating their cups they will be planting seeds in each one of them. I was amazed how many artists we had today. Each of the Buds were so proud of their little master pieces, and some of them just kept looking at what they accomplished .

If you are in the neighborhood come and visit the Grace Hall Family and check out the cool coffee mugs on how well they were decorated with such love and handwork. You might see some of the mugs having sprouts coming from them.

This day was very special to me because I saw my mom and so many other Moms enjoying this day with each other and with their special families. Another Happy Day at the Gilbert Residence with the Grace Hall Family.

I want to also give a special thanks for the many caregivers and staff at Grace Hall for making this day special for all the people there today. Many of you are Mom's and you made sure the Grace Hall Mom's were taken care of with so much love and care.I know my mom and other Buds there can't tell you all how much they appreciate all that you do for each one of them, I want to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping all our family members safe, happy, and having fun.

Movin and Groovin Time For Mom

Today, Tom, Kristofer and I went to Gilbert Residence to bring Mom her summer clothes and bring her winter clothes home. When we saw Mom she was doing her walking with her friend Helen. Helen calls her Son, because she thinks Mom is her son. Its okay with me, because they are both happy just to be with each other. They both are such great friends, they act like they have known each other for many years. They barely talk to each other but they just smile and hold hands. In this post I did not get Helen with Mom but I know some of you already know who Helen is by the many photos I have posted of the two.

Mom sat with another sweet lady to listen to the singer Lori. Mom loves to sit on the couch and hold someone's hand. Today's entertainment was Movin and Grovin with Lori. Patricia Belanger you will know just who she is by looking at her. She told us she went to high school or middle school with you.

It was a riot to see all these Buds singing. A lot of them knew the words to most of the songs. I saw Mom, Betty, Lois, and George singing away. Mom loves music, and you can tell by looking at her photos that I posted today how much she loves music. When Mom saw us she just gave us a big smile, and continued either doing her walking or sitting down and singing. It makes us all so happy to see Mom smiling and she sure is loved there.
