Meeting a New Neighbor

When we walked into my apartment she was in such a wonderful mood, and had so much to tell us. Before I gave Mom all her delicious treats I took Mom to give my friend Joan's Mom a bagel and to check in on her. She just moved in a couple of days ago and is having lots of problems adjusting to her to living arrangements. She did not want to come and visit or go downstairs latter with us. I told her daughter that it will take a couple of days and she will forget her old place. Mom gave Chris lots of hugs and told her that she loved her. Mom also told her that soon she will love her new home, it takes a little time to get used to it. I was so proud of Mom in her kind words.

We brought Mom back to her apartment.  Tom and Kristofer got her to sit down and eat while I looked for her dirty laundry. I also showed her new photos with news stories that she enjoyed listening to while she nibbled on her pizza and other healthy treats we brought her. Mom will be starting her new blood pressure pills. After we had fun talking and eating we took her downstairs.

I showed Mable and the other Oldies and Goodies the book Mable wanted me to make of animals... and other creatures. They all loved the book and could not wait to see new photos. They also kept looking at the book that has all their photos in it.

Mom then showed me Jim's puzzle table. She is so proud of Jim and his puzzle that he is working on. She acted like she was his biggest helper, and I saw how the others were laughing behind her. Some of the Oldies and Goodies can be real hard on Mom and others that have Dementia. Even old people can be bullies or say unkind things....

 Jim is so proud of himself, and he wanted his photo to be taken and placed in the book.

We said goodbye to Mom, and reminded everyone about Tom's cousin Marjorie coming to tell them wonderful stories on Wednesday. Tom made such a nice poster about Marjorie and how awesome of a Storyteller she is. I explained to everyone how lucky we are to have her visit us on Wednesday. Many of them could not wait to meet her. Mom knows about her, but I think she is just going along with what I said. Great day with Mom, and she gave me lots of kisses goodbye. I hope the day continues to be wonderful for her, because she deserves to have great times in life,
