Today at the Gilbert Residence - Neighborhood Reminiscing Cafe

If anyone walked down the hall in the Gilbert Residence to the Bistro Cafe' you would have heard so much laughter and smelled the coffee and the yummy desserts coming out of the room. There was cake, homemade, yummy cookies and Candy Corn for everyone to eat.

Our friends Damita and Sharon have started a Neighborhood Reminiscing Cafe' time once a month at the Gilbert Residence. Everyone is welcomed to come and many of us from Grace Hall even brought our loved ones to come and have some fun. We talked, made new friends, even had fun talking to our old friends too. It was so much fun just getting together and just being with people that make us feel good.

Everyone laughed, enjoyed all the yummy desserts and we even made a craft to take home. Many of the Residence's were so happy to be there and you can tell from the photos how they wanted me to take their photo of what they made today during craft time. Yes, and some of the residences and family members kept telling Damita and Sharon how delicious the cakes and cookies were.

A couple of the family members helped their family member to put family photos in a frame sharing their lfe story, which we shared at the end.

I can't wait to come next month and bring Mama Lucy Lou. My mom had so much fun she did not want to leave. I hope Mama Lucy Lou and I can see you next month at Bistro Cafe, on November 15th, and on December 20th. It is from 3 - 4:15pm. Hope to see you all then. Plan on having fun, making crafts, and having some yummy desserts. Your loved ones will be smiling all over the place, because of the fun they will be having like we all did this afternoon.

Please make sure you RSVP to Damita by calling 734-482-9498 or emailing her damitaw@gilbertresidence.com

Hope Mama Lucy Lou and I will see you there!

Mama Lucy Lou and Her Buds at the Gilbert Residence.

Yesterday, Mama Lucy Lou and the other Buds were watching television. They were giggling and laughing, and I noticed they were laughing at the little babies on television who were laughing at the funny things that the dogs were doing.

These little Buds thought it was so funny and they kept watching that particular show many times over and over again. None of them even realized that they were watching the same show over and over again. They just were having so much fun laughing, giggling, and some of them said for me to sit and watch it with them.

Another Fun Day at Grace Hall.. Making Pies...

Today, was such a FUN DAY! Elicia and the staff had it planned so well for all the cute Buds there at Grace Hall. First, it was Grandparents Day, and they all told me that they were grandparents. Many of them told me how many grandchildren they had and some just smiled and just thinking of their wonderful memories. of being a grandparent.

We had a Pizza Party, and did they all love the pizza. A couple of them had no idea what a pizza was, but when they got their slice, they were so excited. Even some of them said I remember eating this.

After the pizza Elicia got all the ingredients to make several pies and even a cheese cake. She asked what were some of the favorite pies, and many said cherry or apple. Each of the Buds had a choice of what slice of pie they wanted, and to tell you the truth they really did not care, just as long as they got a slice. Many of the Buds helped to make the different pies, and loved the smell of the ingredients. Yes, and a couple tried taking a peach out of the bowl, but Elicia told them they needed each slice of peach for the yummy pie.

Several of the Bud family members came to have fun with their loved ones, and they were happy to see their family members eating or helping make the pies. I looked around at every one in the Gathering Room at Grace Hall, there were a bunch of Happy, Smiling, Adorable, Sweet, Buds just having another FUN DAY at the Gilbert Residence.

A Fun Day at Grace Hall With Pizza.... Yes.. Mama Lucy Fell...

Thank you Elicia, Wanda and the rest of the staff for planning such a Fun Day at Grace Hall. Pizza Party, making yummy pies, and what a way to celebrate Grandparents Day!

Yes... I know so many of you see Mama Lucy Lou with a black eye and all bruised up. She fell getting out of a chair yesterday. One of the staff members saw her start to fall, and yelled for the person near her to catch her... It was Too Late! She hit the ground with a bang!

It was no ones fault, Mama Lucy Lou has a mind of her own, and decided to get up from the chair. Many of our love ones that have this horrible disease will fall all the time. As they get older with this disease they are a lot weaker and have so many problems even walking.

The staff there were so amazing as always. in how they took care of my mom. They wanted us to get her checked out at the hospital, and my brother and one of my nephew's Anthony took her there. She did have a cut on her forehead that had to be glued, and the doctor told them just to keep an eye on her. We knew Mama Lucy was in the best place with such a caring staff that love her

Even though she may look all bruised up, she stills had that sweet smile on. Yes, she has a big slice of cherry pie, and a yummy slice of pizza. My Mom may have this dreadful disease but she still smiles, and she is so happy,,,,, and its because the staff at the Gilbert Residence is so loving and caring there.
Thank you everyone who works at the Gilbert Residence for the care you give Mama Lucy Lou and the rest of the Buds.

Mama Lucy Lou Sitting in a very large Chair

Today, Mom and her sweet Buds were just sitting and enjoying the afternoon. It was so cute to see Mom sitting in this huge, black chair and she loved sitting in this soft chair too.
Mom kept smiling and smiling. Helen kept holding her hand, and they just smiled at each other. Within an hour both of them said Home, and that means they wanted to go back to their room. It was nap time and I think they both were tired.
Sweet Jas D. came and got them both for their naps. Jas always has this amazing smile. I have never seen her with out her smile. My first year of teaching I had her Uncle at Cheney. Gosh.. 21 years old.... and a teacher then. I was so young..... too.

Mama Lucy Lou and her Buds Enjoying Delicious Donuts.

Yesterday, we went and saw Mom and all the adorable buds. Many of them were resting, but when they saw the donuts we walked in with a couple of them came by us very quickly. They know that we will bring many sweet treats for them on Mondays. When I was growing up Mom always had something sweet for us to eat after dinner. I do miss the Armenian food she made for us especially her desserts.

Tuesday, Movie Night for Mama Lucy Lou and her Darling Buds.

Elicia  was getting everyone ready for Tuesday Afternoon Movie Time. They were going to see "State Fair." Not the movie with Pat Boone, Ann Margaret, but the older version that was made in 1944, so you know it will be a big hit for these Buds.
I do have to share a funny story that happened today at Grace Hall. The last couple of days I have been sad because a good friend is now an angel... so what I saw today made me laugh so loud. I am not going to mention names ... so here goes my story........
Two staff gals were wondering where two of the ladies had gone? The two ladies were in the Gathering Room and within minutes they were gone. The two staff gals decided to look in the bathroom first that was in the Gathering Room.
Yes.. these two adorable little Buds were in the bathroom. They asked them what were they doing in there? Neither of them looked at the staff members, they kept looking at the floor. Now right there these two knew they were in trouble but did not know why? So the two staff members just stood there looking at these two, but still no eye contact from the two little Buds.
Then one staff person said to one of the Buds did you go to the bathroom, and she said she did not know! The other Bud said she is not sure what she did.. YES... I am still laughing. Trust me these two cutie pies looked like they had gotten caught doing something wrong.. but neither of them knew what?
