Music and Dancing - Mama Lucy Lou was having a ball..

Today we went to visit Mama Lucy Lou at Grace Hall. When we walked toward the Gathering Area of Grace Hall we heard wonderful music, laughter, singing, clapping, stamping of feet. and happy voices. The closer we got we saw all the adorable Buds having their eyes on the Awesome, Talented Entertainer's called The Dancing DJ's.The DJ's even had me singing and dancing. Anyone that entered the Gathering Room got into the beat, and they could not leave.
Music is so important to all these Buds. My mom Lucy Lou has Dementia, and she does not know me or her family. This afternoon she was clapping, dancing and I even saw her sing some of the songs. Mama Lucy Lou may not know me, but music helps her and so many others who have Dementia to go to a happy time in their lives and not feeling so lost. The DJ's had the place rocking, and so many of the little ladies wanted to dance with the cute man with the dancing feet. Yes, Mama Lucy Lou was one of those little ladies dancing the afternoon away. I count my blessings every day, and I know so many of you who have parents, or any family members living at the Gilbert Residence. This place is such a loving HOME!

Music and fun with Miss Debbie and Lucy Lou loving to sing..

Today, maybe a very gloomy, and rainy day here in Michigan.... but at the Gilbert Residence at Grace Hall Miss Debra the amazing singer had everyone singing and even dancing. If the cute Buds did not sing or dance... they were smiling all over the place.. It may have been gloomy outside but lots of sunshine and happiness inside.

Gilbert Residence 2014 Staff Christmas Party

December 12 th the staff had their Christmas Party, and the Oldies and Goodies had so much fun being part of their staff party. A few of them were dressed up and of course our Buds loved every moment. Most of our Buds had smiles all afternoon enjoying the fun .

When Tom, and I walked in the Gathering Room we saw Mom sitting with Helen her friend on the couch. They were both holding each other hands, while Helen took a little snooze. When I went up to give Mom a kiss, she said daughter and asked how I was?

Several of us were talking about Ally's adorable tee shirt and what was written on it. Mom's friend Lois started reading what was on her tee shirt. Lois asked what does Swag mean? Ally, Bianca and I looked at each other and we got up and showed her. The next thing we knew Lois was swagging... if there is a verb to swag. Trust me you can't pull anything on our Miss Lois. She always wants to do what ever the rest of us are doing, She does not want to miss anything. I do have to tell you something really cute about our Miss Lois. Today, Tom went to put batteries on Mom's Christmas lights and he heard someone snoring ... and it was not Mom. It was Lois sleeping on Mom's bed. I wanted to take a photo of her, but I was afraid I would wake her up.

Lois showing us the swag!
Then, Lois wanted to show me what she could do today. I love this cute Bud. She wanted to show me that she could do what the angel on the mantel could do. She was so proud of what she figured out. I told her she is so clever and so smart. I could not do what she could. She replied to me.. that she knew I couldn't that's why she was showing me.

Betty was checking out the Christmas tree to make sure all the ornaments are in there proper place.

For the staff party, all the employees were having an ugly sweater contest to see who had the best outfit.  Everyone, including us had a chance to vote on the one we liked the best.

Wanda and Elica had the best sweaters.  Wanda with the garland won the contest.

Next the entertainment came in to get all the Buds dancing. They all sat in a big semi-circle while this great man and lady played music and got them dancing. They had fun dancing, singing, and a little exercising. Some danced, some exercised, and some sang. They all had smiles and were enjoying every moment.

The nice man got Lucy up to dance and she still had the moves.

They all enjoyed the entertainment and dancing so much!  I know who will be going to bed early tonight, yes, our adorable Buds.
