Time in the Hospital

It all started on Mom's birthday the day she was to celebrate her 90th Birthday at Grace Hall, but ended up with pneumonia at St. Joe's Hospital.  It was so scary for all of us...I kept thinking God had her Heaven's Wings ready for Mom to fly to Heaven's Gates and each day at the hospital we thought soon we would be saying goodbye.

It is so hard to see a parent who has dementia not able to tell you just what hurts or how they feel. At the hospital she was so confused on where she was or why she was there? For several days she could not talk and was so confused, until I showed her two photos  of her support helper Ally and her friend named Helen at Gilbert Residence. (See photos below)  She looked at both photos and finally she smiled from ear to ear and said those are my friends. I miss them so much. I knew somehow God was giving me a message that she was going to get better and she did. After that day we kept seeing our Lucy Lou start coming back to us and now today she is going home to her family  at the Gilbert Residence, after 6 days in the hospital.

Here is Ally her amazing support Help... These two have something that no one will ever have their love for each other.

This is Helen , Mom's best bud. Helen can not talk or ear, but she see's and feels the love my mom has for her and the love she has for my mom.

I have to mention on thing.. there are a lot of Oldies and Goodies that have been sick like my mom over there for the last week, but not once have I seen or heard any of the support staff complain.  They have given each member lots of care and love through all this sickness over there. We are so blessed to have our family members at Grace Hall being taken care of as there are doing. Please  when you get a chance thank them and give them  a big hug so they know how much you appreciate the care they are giving to your  family member. We would be so lost if we did not have them and especially the one who needs them the most like my mom... LUCY LOU.
