Veteran's Day and Mom's 90th Birthday..

The family and especially me had planned a special birthday for Mom for several months and finally the big day was here. We were picking up the big sheet cake and the ice cream when I got a call from Wanda. Her voice did not seem as happy as it usually is, and she told me that Mom was sick with a very high fever. She had called Mom's doctor and the doctor told  her she had to get Mom to the hospital. I felt so badly.. Mom's birthday and she was so sick. My brother went to meet her at the hospital and Tom, Kris, and I took all the party food and fun things to Grace Hall.

Everyone felt so sad, and kept giving me hugs. I remember Elicia telling me soon Mom will be home feeling better and we will be partying with her. She gave me a big hug and said she will be fine. It turned out that every one was sick.  It broke my heart to see the Oldies and Goodies sick and most of them have no idea how to explain what they were feeling like.   Elicia also said that her birthday party was on hold until Mom gets home and her friends were feeling better to party.

When we finally got to the hospital Mom did not know why she was there and she wanted to go home. I asked her how did she feel and she said not good but she still had that smile on her face. After several hours and many tests done on Mom, it started to get to her. She did not cuss any one out in Armenian which was good, but instead called everyone dirty jackasses.  Once that mood starts its down hill for her. I kept telling her that I wanted to go home too but once they find her shoes we will go. She laughed and said her shoes were gone? I then explained yes, and then she replied that she needed her shoes and laughed.

After seven hours, the doctors said they couldn't find any reason to keep her since her temperature was back to normal. She was ready to go home too!  They started her on Z-pack and we rolled her to the car in a wheel chair.  She didn't have a coat, so the gave her a hot blanket to rap in.   Gilbert Residence had a warm dinner waiting for her. Mom was smiling all the way out of the hospital and she said she could not wait to get home. When we arrived at Grace Hall we had one happy Mom.  She said she missed everyone.

I called the next day and the doctor said Mom still had a fever, and if she got worse they would be sending her back to the hospital. Later that evening her Oxygen level was below normal, so it was back to the hospital for Mom.  Tom and I met her again at Emergency at 11:30 at night.

It was so hard to see Mom laying on the hospital bed during her birthday time and being so sick but the funny thing she had no idea it was her birthday ant that it was just an ordinary day for her. I hope in a couple of days we can party for her 90th birthday and see her diving into the cake and ice cream and watching her friends smiling  at her while they eat cake too.

It was hard to believe that within twenty four hours Mom is back at the hospital. Now I am really worried about her. I know God has her in his heart pocket, and the rest of the family members at Grace Hall who is also sick like Mom. Prayers need to go to them all, and the amazing staff there who are taking care of each one of them.
