Grace Hall.. Music Therapy Before Trick or Treaters...

This evening and usually once a week Grace Hall have visitors from Eastern Michigan Students and Professors come in and do Music Therapy with them. Music is so important with family members with dementia and throughtout the evening you could hear some family members singing, clapping, smiling and giggling. Yes.. Happy Grace Hall Buds....hearing music.

Tonight was a special Music time because they had songs to sing about Halloween , and all kinds of fun instruments to play with along with their singing. Several of them including my mom Lucy Lou did not have an idea how to play but once you showed Lucy Lou and the other Cutie Pies they were shaking all over the place.

Tonight one of the professor's brought in an old parachute. Trust me this is so much fun playing with it with music. Several of the Grace Hall Buds did not want to give back any of the adorable instruments once they knew how to play it, but the professor knew just what to say to get all the instruments back in her bag. Everyone tonight had so much fun.. playing with the instruments, and the huge rainbow parachute, even ME!

Grace Hall Family Had Trick or Treaters Visiting.

It sure was a fun night at Grace Hall for my mom Lucy Lou and all the Adorable Buds from Grace Hall. They had cute visitors in all sizes wearing such great costumes.

Yes... there was a very Scary Clown, but the kids seemed to like him and even Mama Lucy Lou and Helen still smiled when they had their photo taken with him.

Several of the Grace Hall Buds that wanted to pass out candy to the kids came out in the hallway. A couple of them did not know what to do but get into the yummy candy first. Once we showed them how to give candy out to the kids they did not want to stop giving. I did give each of the Buds a sucker to enjoy while they passed out the candy. I think the sucker made them happy but what made them smile and giggle were seeing the kids in their costumes. I even watched a couple of the Buds and the way they looked at the kids all dressed up, brought each one of the Buds some memories of their own kids and grandkids dressing up.

It sure was a fun evening at Grace Hall.... I know I had so much fun just watching the happy kids, Grace Hall Buds, workers all laughing and having an AWESOME TIme. You all know everyone that is at Gilbert Residence always are having fun and are all LOVED so much too..Grace

Today at the Gilbert Residence - Neighborhood Reminiscing Cafe

If anyone walked down the hall in the Gilbert Residence to the Bistro Cafe' you would have heard so much laughter and smelled the coffee and the yummy desserts coming out of the room. There was cake, homemade, yummy cookies and Candy Corn for everyone to eat.

Our friends Damita and Sharon have started a Neighborhood Reminiscing Cafe' time once a month at the Gilbert Residence. Everyone is welcomed to come and many of us from Grace Hall even brought our loved ones to come and have some fun. We talked, made new friends, even had fun talking to our old friends too. It was so much fun just getting together and just being with people that make us feel good.

Everyone laughed, enjoyed all the yummy desserts and we even made a craft to take home. Many of the Residence's were so happy to be there and you can tell from the photos how they wanted me to take their photo of what they made today during craft time. Yes, and some of the residences and family members kept telling Damita and Sharon how delicious the cakes and cookies were.

A couple of the family members helped their family member to put family photos in a frame sharing their lfe story, which we shared at the end.

I can't wait to come next month and bring Mama Lucy Lou. My mom had so much fun she did not want to leave. I hope Mama Lucy Lou and I can see you next month at Bistro Cafe, on November 15th, and on December 20th. It is from 3 - 4:15pm. Hope to see you all then. Plan on having fun, making crafts, and having some yummy desserts. Your loved ones will be smiling all over the place, because of the fun they will be having like we all did this afternoon.

Please make sure you RSVP to Damita by calling 734-482-9498 or emailing her damitaw@gilbertresidence.com

Hope Mama Lucy Lou and I will see you there!
